At the intersection of Mercedes and Highway 377, a once ordinary stretch of roadway has quietly become a point of pride for Benbrook.
The Waverly Park Garden Club has named the space Yard of the Month, recognizing a three-year effort led by the Benbrook Economic Development Corporation and Russell Feed & Supply. What began as a vision has grown into a thoughtfully designed landscape that reflects both the city’s growth and its deep roots in horse country.
Completed last October, the site features the new City of Benbrook marquee, complemented by detailed mare-and-foal sculptures by artist Kelly Graham. A windmill, lighting elements, and carefully maintained landscaping bring the space together, creating a setting that feels both welcoming and distinctly local.
The project stands as a reminder of what can happen when local partners invest in more than function. They invest in identity, pride, and the everyday experience of those who pass through the city.
For residents and visitors alike, it is one more reason to take a second look at the places that shape Benbrook’s story.
