Benbrook Orchestra Hits the Right Note Again.

Success has become something of a tradition for the orchestra students at Benbrook Middle High School.

Last week, the BMHS Orchestra returned from the University Interscholastic League competition with another major accomplishment. The program earned not one but two Sweepstakes Awards, bringing the school’s all-time total to 24.

For students and families connected to the program, the recognition reflects months of early rehearsals, after-school practices, and a commitment to mastering music together. Under the direction of Ms. O’Brien, the orchestra has built a reputation for steady excellence in UIL competition, and this year’s performance continued that legacy.

A Sweepstakes Award represents the highest honor a music ensemble can earn at UIL, recognizing top ratings across multiple stages of competition. Reaching that mark once is an achievement. Doing it again and again speaks to the program’s strength and its students’ dedication.

The spotlight now shifts to another group of Bobcat musicians. Benbrook’s choir programs head into their UIL competition this week, hoping to keep the momentum going for the school’s fine arts programs.

For a community that rallies around its students, it is another reminder that some of the most meaningful victories happen not only on athletic fields but also on the stage.
