Spirit of Christmas Seeks Community Memories for 40th Anniversary.

For four decades, Spirit of Christmas has quietly brought neighbors together in Benbrook to help families during the holiday season. Now, as the organization prepares to mark its 40th anniversary, it is asking the community to help tell the story.

Organizers are gathering memories from residents who have been part of the effort over the years. That includes volunteers who helped organize gifts, donors who supported the mission, families who received assistance, and local businesses that partnered along the way.

The program has long reflected the spirit of the community, built on the simple idea that when a need arises, neighbors step in to help. What began with a single phone call and a family with eight children eventually grew into a long-standing tradition of generosity that continues today.

One longtime volunteer, involved since 1997, says there are still many stories from the early years that deserve to be remembered and preserved.

Residents who have memories to share are invited to email them to spiritofchristmas01@gmail.com. Organizers hope the collected stories will help celebrate the people and moments that shaped one of Benbrookโ€™s most meaningful community traditions.
