For Benbrook Elementary fifth graders, May 15 is more than just another date on the calendar. It marks a final field trip together before they head to middle school.
The class is planning a visit to Mammoth Falls and the Dr. Pepper Museum, but organizers are working to reduce costs for families. The goal is to raise enough to cover transportation and tickets so that every student can attend without added financial strain at home.
So far, 21 of 70 seats have been sponsored. Local businesses are already stepping up, including J5 Plumbing Co., whose donation helped advance the effort.
Community members who would like to sponsor a seat or contribute can do so at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/sponsor-a-seat-2. Business donors can receive a tax receipt through the link.
For these students, this trip is a send-off to elementary school. For the community, it is a chance to invest in a memory they will carry long after the bus ride home.
