The wrestling season has wrapped at Western Hills High School, and the Cougars leave the mat with momentum and optimism.
This year’s team showed steady growth through dedication and resilience, capping the season with a strong showing at the 5A District Tournament. Four wrestlers placed at districts, and two advanced to regional competition in Lubbock, highlighting the program’s depth and progress.
District placers included Daviahn Ervin and Ricky Williams, each finishing sixth, while Aubrey Smalley and Jayda Smith earned fifth-place finishes to qualify for regionals. Smalley and Smith represented Western Hills at the Regional Tournament in Lubbock, competing Thursday and Friday against top competition.
As the program says goodbye to graduating seniors, attention turns to the future. With returning leadership and emerging talent, Cougar wrestling heads into the offseason confident that the foundation is set for continued success next year.
