Benbrook has been “taco-ing ’bout it” all week, and not quietly. The question popping up everywhere is simple. Is Taco Bell really coming back?
After plenty of social media chatter, speculation, and strong opinions on all sides, the answer is yes. Taco Bell is officially set to return to Benbrook, and the proof is already visible.
Activity is underway at the former Dairy Queen location at 8636 Benbrook Blvd. Doors are open, interior walls are coming down, dumpsters are filling daily, and renovations are clearly in motion.
While no workers on site were available to confirm details, the construction speaks for itself. That story is backed up by public records, too.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows a registered project for a Taco Bell restaurant at that address, filed on October 10, 2025. The project is listed as a remodel conversion of the existing Dairy Queen building into a Taco Bell, covering roughly 3,400 square feet.
Construction is scheduled to begin January 1, 2026, although already underway, with an anticipated completion date of February 1, 2026, barring delays.
Adding to the confirmation, Southern Multifoods has already posted job listings online for a Taco Bell opening in Benbrook, targeting a February 2026 launch. Those interested can view openings and are encouraged to apply today.
This marks Taco Bell’s third attempt (maybe the charm this time) to plant roots in Benbrook. Past locations near where Pasiano’s now sits and near the AT&T store did not last.

Before that, the same building even housed a Taco Villa back in 2009. The site has a long and complicated fast-food history, including multiple failed runs by Dairy Queen.

What makes this return especially interesting is the location. Taco Bell will sit right next to Taco Bueno, with 3 Parrots Taco Shop just down the road, Taco Casa further south, and Tacos and Avocados expected to arrive in 2026.
Few places embrace taco competition quite like Benbrook. Whether this latest chapter sticks or becomes another footnote remains to be seen. One thing is sure. Benbrook takes its tacos seriously, and residents will be watching closely as the doors open.
