Benbrook Bobcats basketball is headed to the championship round at the Godley Kia Basketball Tournament after a gritty win over Dalhart earlier today.
The Bobcats came into the matchup known for pushing the pace and lighting up the scoreboard, having dropped 63 points in each of their previous tournament games. Dalhart was determined to slow things down and did just that, holding Benbrook to 37 points. What they could not solve was the Bobcats defense.
Benbrook flipped the script with a suffocating defensive effort, limiting Dalhart to just 26 points and controlling the game from start to finish. When the final buzzer sounded, it was the Bobcats walking off with a 37 to 26 win and a spot in the tournament championship.
The Bobcats will play for the title Saturday at 4:45 pm against the winner of Godley and Eagle Mountain. Tipoff will take place at Godley High School, located at 9501 State Hwy 171 in Godley.
