Bobcats Surge in Godley Basketball Tournament and Make Program History.

Benbrook’s boys basketball team picked the perfect moment to heat up.

After a rough start to the week against Cleburne, the Bobcats have come alive in the Godley tournament, stacking back-to-back wins and reminding everyone what this squad can do when the pieces click.

The turnaround started with a statement win over Alvarado, a team that has frustrated Benbrook for years.

The Bobcats finally broke through, then carried that momentum straight into a late-night battle with a higher-ranked Gatesville team. That matchup delivered a full dose of drama, ending in a 63-58 overtime victory that pushed Benbrook to a 2-0 finish on day one and secured a spot in the gold bracket.

The night also delivered a milestone moment. Brennan Barton became only the second player in program history to cross the 1,000 point mark, cementing his place among Benbrook’s all-time competitors.

Benbrook sits at 7-5 on the season as they prepare for Dalhart at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. After the tournament, the Bobcats will rest up before heading to Venus next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., then gear up for district play against cross-town rival Western Hills.
