Benbrook’s wrestling program showed its depth and determination this past week, taking on a stacked slate of competition and turning in standout results across the board.
The varsity squad opened the week at Weatherford, facing the Kangaroos along with Brock and Lewisville, The Colony. The matches were tough, but Benbrook wrestlers refused to back down. Gavin Henderson, Gabe Helm, and Mac Shafer led the boys with strong performances, while Katie Loyd, Emily Hassler, and Brileigh Satterwhite went undefeated on the girls’ side.
JV kept the momentum going at Azle on November 21. Zoe Clark and Aiden Carpenter won their brackets, Bella Johnson finished second, and Gabe Helm, Angel Roberts, Naima Sotelo, and Jessica Lowry each finished fourth in their weight classes.
Varsity returned to Azle the next day and added more medals to the list. Mac Shafer finished second, Emily Hassler placed third, and Gavin Henderson and Katie Loyd each grabbed fourth.
The team now turns its focus to the Cougar Classic in Arlington this Saturday, December 6, ready to keep the energy going.
