The Benbrook Bobcats gave their fans a Homecoming game to remember Thursday night, edging out the Hillsboro Eagles in a 21–20 thriller.
Fresh off a dominant 21-point win over Godley the week before, the Bobcats showed they can win the tight ones too. It was another chapter in their growing rivalry with Hillsboro, as Benbrook also took the victory when the teams met last October.
Homecoming heroics came from Waylin Barton, who racked up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Dorien Johnson kept the Eagles’ defense scrambling with 109 yards through the air. Together, they helped lift Benbrook to its third straight win, improving to 5–3 on the season and a perfect 3–0 in district play.
Next up, the Bobcats hit the field again on Halloween night to face district rival Glen Rose at 7 p.m. Friday, October 31. With two talented quarterbacks—Brennan Barton for Benbrook and Judd Connally for Glen Rose—fans can expect another exciting matchup under the lights.
Let’s pack the stands and keep the Homecoming spirit alive as we cheer the Bobcats on to four straight wins. For team schedules and updates, visit Benbrook Middle-High School Athletics.
