It’s summer in Fort Worth, and if you’re tempted to give your yard an extra splash to fight the heat, hold that hose.
The City of Fort Worth’s watering restrictions remain in full effect, and they’re not merely suggestions. Fort Worth limits outdoor watering to two days per week and strictly prohibits any watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. all year long.
Here’s how it works: Mondays are off-limits for everyone. Tuesdays and Fridays are for commercial properties only. If your home address ends in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8), your watering days are Wednesday and Saturday. Odd-numbered addresses (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) receive service on Thursday and Sunday.
If you’re using a handheld hose with a nozzle, a drip system, or a soaker hose, you’re in the clear any day, any time. But watch out for sprinklers hooked up to hoses—they don’t count as hand watering and could earn you a citation if used outside your scheduled days.
Pool owners should also double-check their refill days to stay aligned with their designated watering schedule. Violations can come with costly fines, so it’s best to play it safe.
