Residents Push for Long-Term Oversight Ahead of Tomorrow’s Data Center Vote.

As a key vote approaches in Fort Worth, residents near the RM 2871 corridor are looking beyond a single decision and focusing on what comes next.

The 2871 Community Coalition is urging City Council to adopt broader safeguards tied to the proposed economic development agreement with Edged Data Centers, set for a vote on March 31 at 11 a.m. at City Hall.

While the project sits just outside Benbrook, its potential impact has drawn strong interest from nearby neighborhoods.

The group is calling for a mix of immediate and long-term measures, including a corridor-specific overlay for data centers, citywide standards for noise and air quality, stronger notification requirements, and ongoing third-party inspections.

At the core is a concern shared by many residents. Large-scale development is moving faster than the systems meant to inform and protect the public.

Coalition members say the issue is not limited to one project. They point to gaps in communication and oversight that could affect future developments if left unaddressed.

But here’s the key: Residents still have time to weigh in.

Speaker registration for the March 31 meeting is open until 9 a.m. that day, and those unable to attend can submit written comments through the same process.

Details, including a summary of recent community questions and responses, are available on the website under โ€œWhat we asked & what we heard.โ€ In addition, meeting information can be found at https://www.fortworthtexas.gov/calendar.

Community members are also encouraging neighbors to attend the meeting wearing green as a visible sign of unity.

Whether the agreement passes, changes, or is delayed, many residents see this moment as the start of a longer conversation about growth, transparency, and how decisions are made in the areas they call home.
