If you’re new in town and itching to hit the trails, Benbrook residents have you covered. Whether you’re seeking scenic lake views, peaceful walks, or a bit of off-the-grid nature, this small but mighty community offers plenty of outdoor escapes.
Locals recommend exploring the trails surrounding Benbrook Lake. You can access them from several convenient spots, including behind the horse stables—where you’ll even find a trail map near the gazebos—or through the gate at Holiday Park, located just south of Benbrook.
For a longer journey, the Trinity Trails system is a favorite, with a trailhead off Winscott Road near the old soapbox derby track or by the YMCA. These paths can take you all the way into downtown Fort Worth.
Want to venture a little farther? Just 15–20 minutes outside of town, the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge off Highway 199 and Confederate Park Road offers an expansive network of trails through forest and prairie, along with wildlife like bison and other native species. Admission is budget-friendly, and you can even bring your dog along—just not inside the visitor center.
So lace up your hiking boots, grab some water, and start exploring. Benbrook and beyond has plenty of trails worth discovering.
