Families looking for a meaningful way to spend Martin Luther King Jr. Day have a solid option right here in the area.
An MLK Day Camp focused on baseball and softball skills will take place on Monday, January 19, offering kids ages 4 to 12 a full day of instruction, activity, and fun. The camp runs from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at 1500 Markum Rand Road in Fort Worth and covers hitting, fielding, throwing, and pitching, base running, and friendly competitions. Prizes and pizza are included.
Beyond skill-building, the camp has a purpose. Ten percent of all proceeds will support the Wiley College Baseball program, helping invest in a historic HBCU athletic program based in Marshall, Texas.
The cost is $75 per child, with a $30 sibling add-on available. Participants should wear a t-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes, with no cleats required. No other gear is needed. Players are encouraged to bring their own baseball or softball equipment and a water bottle.
Details and registration information are available on the event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/1430542232441270/.
For parents, it is a chance to keep kids active during a school holiday. For players, it is a day to learn, compete, and give back.
