Traffic came to a complete standstill just northwest of Benbrook as all northbound lanes of NW Loop 820 closed early this morning due to a serious multi-vehicle accident near Navajo Trail.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, including multiple police units, two ambulances, and a supervisor from Fort Worth EMS. At least one person was critically injured.
Drivers stuck in the backup reported gridlock, with police directing traffic to turn around using an on-ramp. However, that plan quickly hit a wall when two 18-wheelers blocked the way, leaving some vehicles trapped with nowhere to go.
The crash has caused major delays, and drivers are being urged to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.
