Softball season is officially underway in Fort Worth, and the Western Hills Lady Cougars wasted no time making an early statement.

Western Hills and the Trimble Tech Lady Bulldogs traded runs in the opening inning Tuesday night, setting the tone for a back-and-forth contest. Trimble Tech seized control in the second with a five-run inning, while the Lady Cougars managed just one, falling behind early.

Momentum shifted quickly. Western Hills capitalized on defensive miscues in the third, plating four runs to pull even at six all. The surge continued in the fourth, as the Lady Cougars added four more runs to take a 10-7 lead and firmly swing the game in their favor.

Trimble Tech scratched across one more run, but the rally stopped there. Western Hills held on for a 10-8 victory, opening the season with a comeback win built on timely hitting and persistence.

The Lady Cougars are now 1-0 on the season and will head back on the road Friday to face Ranchview at 5:30 pm, carrying early momentum into their next matchup.
