The Benbrook Lady Bobcats stepped onto the floor Friday ready for a test against the Fossil Ridge Lady Panthers, a team known for its speed and pressure.
From the opening minutes, Fossil Ridge controlled both ends of the court, and Benbrook struggled to find a rhythm against a defense that allowed very little room to work.
By the final buzzer, the Lady Bobcats took their first loss of the season in a 72 to 21 final that reflected just how sharp Fossil Ridge played. It was the kind of game that forces a team to regroup, reset and shift quickly toward improvement.
Benbrook will get that chance right away. The Lady Bobcats, 2-1 on the season, return to the court Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a matchup with the Castleberry Lions, giving the team an early opportunity to bounce back and rewrite the story of their season’s first setback.
