As severe storms move into Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has activated state emergency response resources to ensure communities are prepared for possible flooding, damaging winds, large hail, and even isolated tornadoes through the weekend.
The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), along with agencies such as the Texas National Guard, Department of Public Safety, Parks and Wildlife, and Texas A&M Task Force 1, are now on standby across the state. Teams are ready with high-water vehicles, rescue boats, helicopters, and medical support units to assist local officials if needed.
The National Weather Service warns that excessive rainfall on drought-hardened ground could lead to rapid runoff and flash flooding, especially across North, Central, and East Texas. Benbrook and surrounding communities are encouraged to stay alert, monitor local weather reports, and avoid flooded roads.
Residents can find preparedness tips and safety resources at TexasReady.gov, check real-time road conditions at DriveTexas.org, and review flood safety information at TexasFlood.org.
