Yesterday morning, neighbors just south of Benbrook noticed a strong rotten-egg smell in the air. Residents in Whitestone, Ventana, and nearby neighborhoods called Atmos to report the odor.
By noon, the Fort Worth Fire Department confirmed the smell was due to Atmos purging gas lines in the Walsh Ranch area. There was no active gas leak, and residents were not required to take any action.
The odor faded by late afternoon, and more than 24 hours later, everything remains safe. Residents can rest easy knowing the situation was routine maintenance and posed no danger.
