FORT WORTH, TX—Congressman Marc Veasey set up a “Know Your Rights” table Thursday, January 30, across from North Side High School to address growing community concerns about immigration enforcement.
The event followed a social media post by a substitute teacher that invited ICE to arrest students at the school, sparking fear among families.
Veasey, joined by constituent service representative Maria Robles, answered questions from worried parents, educators, and community members. Concerns ranged from the rights of legal permanent residents to the potential for ICE raids at public parks. Veasey emphasized that individuals detained by ICE have the right to legal counsel and must undergo specific procedures before deportation.
The event offered crucial support during a time of heightened uncertainty and misinformation, aiming to empower the community with clear, reliable information about their legal rights.
