Booming Noise Explained in Southwest Benbrook/Fort Worth City Limits.

For days, Southwest Benbrook residents have been trying to make sense of the loud boom and popping sounds echoing through the area near RM 2871 and Aledo Road, and RM 2871 and Jerry Dunn Parkway.

After plenty of late-night wake-ups, anxious pets, and worried neighbors, the mystery now has an answer.

According to neighbors who spoke with local law enforcement and on-site security, the noise is coming from motion-activated air cannons used at a nearby Whitestone Golf Course and construction sites tied to land clearing and development near PMB Capital projects.

The devices, often called bird bangers, are designed to scare deer away from golf courses, active construction areas, and nearby roadways.

Although Whitestone Golf Course has yet to confirm, the security staff overseeing the construction site confirmed that the air cannons are operating day and night and are expected to continue for the foreseeable future.

While some residents understand the goal of keeping deer away from the golf course, construction zones, and busy highways, many say the constant noise has crossed from nuisance into something more serious.

Neighbors have reported disrupted sleep, distressed pets, and heightened health concerns for elderly residents, those with dementia, and veterans dealing with PTSD.

Several residents have already filed complaints with Benbrook Police and Fort Worth, and through the MyFW app, under general noise concerns.

At this point, jurisdiction remains unclear, with some residents being told the site falls outside Benbrook limits, while others were advised it may still be a Benbrook issue. That confusion has only added to growing frustration.

Neighbors are now discussing next steps, which may include HOA involvement, continued complaints to city officials, or organizing a neighborhood petition. For many, the hope is not conflict but compromise, such as limiting overnight use or exploring quieter alternatives.

For now, the source of the sound is no longer a mystery, but the solution is still very much a work in progress.
