The Benbrook Bobcats soccer team set the tone for the season with a commanding 7-0 win over the Bowie Jackrabbits in a scrimmage match last night.
The Bobcats wasted no time, stunning the Jackrabbits with two quick goals in the opening minutes at the 3rd and 8th marks of the first half. From there, Benbrook kept the pressure on, cruising through the remainder of the game.
Despite their best efforts to regroup during halftime, the Jackrabbits struggled to find an offensive rhythm. Meanwhile, the Bobcats opened the second half with back-to-back scores and sealed the game with three additional goals around the 60-minute mark, delivering a decisive shutout victory.
While this dominant performance is an excellent start for the senior-heavy squad, the team’s need to keep sharpening fundamentals on offense and defense is evident as it works toward its goal of a championship season.
In the nightcap, the Lady Bobcats took on the Lady Jackrabbits. Though scores have yet to be reported, updates are expected soon.
