On a cold and windy Friday night, the Benbrook Bobcats played like a team that knows exactly who it is.
Coming in on a six-game win streak and unbeaten in district, the Benbrook Bobcats wasted no time in their rematch with the Western Hills Cougars. By the end of the first inning, the Bobcats had already built a 5-0 lead behind timely hits, patient at-bats, and pressure on the bases.
From there, the game only widened. A steady second inning kept momentum moving, and the third inning put it out of reach. Trentin Hornbeckโs inside-the-park home run highlighted a six-run surge that pushed the lead to 12-0. Benbrook added a few more late to close out a 15-0 win.
On the mound, Dan Stiefvater set the tone early, throwing three hitless innings with six strikeouts. Cash Bergen followed with two more scoreless frames, combining for a dominant night that never gave Western Hills a chance to settle in.
At the plate, the Bobcats showed balance across the lineup. Ten hits, nine walks, and aggressive base running kept constant pressure on the Cougars. The defense backed it up with a clean game in the field.
With the win, Benbrook moves to 13-7-1 overall and a perfect 6-0 in district play, holding first place. The turnaround is quick, with the Bobcats heading back on the road to face Iowa Park in non-district action.
Right now, Benbrook is not just winning. They are playing complete baseball at the right time.
