The future of youth softball in Benbrook is hanging in the balance.
During a recent meeting hosted by the Benbrook Youth Baseball and Softball Association, parents and coaches gathered to hear a clear message: without more volunteers and stronger registration numbers, the league may be forced to drop softball and operate as baseball-only.
Symantha Spence was introduced as the new Director of Softball, bringing fresh leadership and a clear plan to rebuild the program. She aims to strengthen structure, improve communication, and address the challenges raised in recent parent surveys.
Despite the momentum, the road ahead is steep. Current numbers are low, and partnerships with neighboring cities are now essential to complete divisions and build out a full season.
Organizers are encouraging families, whether currently involved or not, to step up, spread the word, and help keep softball alive in Benbrook.
