Students at Benbrook Middle-High School are adjusting to stricter cell phone enforcement as the campus continues following updated state requirements.
School administrators recently reminded families that phones are not allowed out at any time during the school day from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., including during lunch periods.
To support the policy, the campus has installed secure lock boxes for confiscated phones, which are stored until the end of the day. Administrators say any phone seen outside during school hours will be immediately collected and secured. Students leaving early through official checkout procedures will have their phones returned once a parent or guardian signs them out through the front office.
School officials shared that the enforcement process will remain in place through the end of the current school year and will continue into the 2026-27 school year as part of regular campus expectations.
Administrators say the goal is to create fewer distractions during the school day while helping students stay focused in classrooms and learning environments.
