The Benbrook Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for Fire Prevention Week, taking place October 5–11.
This year’s theme, Charge Into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home, focuses on keeping families safe as battery-powered devices become an everyday part of modern life.
From smartphones and tablets to scooters and power tools, lithium-ion batteries are everywhere—but when not handled properly, they can pose serious fire risks. Throughout the week, the Benbrook Fire Department will share practical safety information to help residents make smart choices when buying, charging, and recycling these batteries.
The department’s goal is to educate the community on how to safely enjoy the benefits of modern technology while minimizing potential hazards.
