BENBROOK, TX – The Benbrook City Council is back in session this Thursday, August 21, at 7 p.m. inside the Council Chambers at 911 Winscott Road. Residents are encouraged to show up, listen in, and make their voices heard.
The evening begins with citizen comments before rolling into approval of minutes from the August 7 meeting. From there, the agenda dives into a packed lineup:
Money Matters:
Council will review the July 31 finance report, including revenue and expenditure charts plus a sales tax comparison update.
Taxes and Appraisals:
Officials will consider accepting the 2025 Certified Appraisal Roll, setting the collection rate, and appointing a tax officer to crunch the numbers for both the no-new-revenue and voter-approved tax rates. The city will also lock those figures into the Tarrant County tax portal.
Big Rezoning Decision:
The Planning and Zoning Commission will present a proposal to rezone nearly 80 acres east of I-820 between Veterans Parkway and Chapin Road. The land, currently under a multi-family development designation, could be split into 62 acres of single-family housing and 17 acres of multi-family units. This item will include a public hearing, giving residents a chance to weigh in.
The meeting will wrap with informal citizen comments and final words from council members and staff before adjournment.
Benbrook residents are encouraged to attend in person or review the agenda online at the City of Benbrook website. Previous meeting minutes and recordings are also available for those wanting to catch up.
