The BYBSA Sportsmanship Committee encourages young athletes to live fully in each moment, whether it’s the thrill of a hit or the sting of a strikeout.

The key? A short memory. A missed catch or a rough inning doesn’t define them. What matters is what they do next.

Just like the pros, these kids are learning that it’s okay to fail. In fact, it’s expected. What’s important is how they respond. A brief moment to reflect, a kind word to themselves, and then it’s time to move on.

This “next play” mindset is something any parent can get behind. It’s about progress, not perfection. And it applies just as much at home, in school, and in life as it does under the lights of the ballpark.
