Benbrook residents, take note. A string of late-night vehicle break-ins has been reported across several neighborhoods this week, and it looks like the culprits are making the rounds.
One incident happened around 1:53 a.m. in the Brookside neighborhood, just behind BASIS Benbrook and Walmart. Homeowner security footage shows a silver mid-sized SUV creeping through the area while a man, believed to be White or Hispanic, walked from driveway to driveway, checking for unlocked car doors. He covered his face with his shirt and moved on quickly if the vehicle was locked.
Similar activity has been reported in Benbrook Village and further south near the Bella neighborhoods off US HWY 377 by Whitestone and the Maverick Golf & Ranch development. In some cases, tools and other valuables have been stolen from work vehicles.
If you see anything suspicious or recognize the vehicle or individual described, report it immediately to the Benbrook Police Department.
And most importantly, double-check that your vehicles are locked before calling it a night. Stay safe, Benbrook.
