Benbrook’s own Western Hills High School brought the heat to Lubbock last weekend, showing up strong at the UIL Academic Regionals.
Students Vianet Garcia, Michael Hickey, Nyima Kijera, Ariel Ramirez, and Dai’Juan Williams, backed by their committed coaches Cook, Maas, Ryon, and Sanks, competed in events like Current Events, Prose, and Ready Writing—proudly repping Cougar Nation.
A standout moment came from Vianet Garcia, who clinched 6th place in Ready Writing. That makes her a State alternate qualifier and the highest-ranked FWISD student in the event—an impressive finish by any standard.
Western Hills continues to show that academic excellence is alive and thriving. Congrats to these scholars for putting in the work and making Benbrook proud.
