Benbrook firefighters and paramedics stayed busy in September, responding to 377 calls across the city.
According to the Benbrook Fire Department, 262 calls involved emergency medical services, while 77 were fire-related. Another 38 calls required both fire and EMS response.
With fall settling in and cooler weather on the way, the department is also reminding residents to take a few simple precautions at home. Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, have chimneys cleaned, inspect heating systems, and keep space heaters at least three feet from anything that can burn.
Families should also have a home fire escape plan and practice it together. Whether cooking, lighting candles, or using a wood-burning fireplace, never leave it unattended.
