October is shaping up to be a busy month at the Benbrook Senior Activity Center, with plenty of familiar favorites, plus a few seasonal outings and special events.
The regular card and game tables will stay active throughout the month. Hand & Foot and Mahjong are played each weekday morning, with Bridge joining Mondays and Thursdays, Canasta on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Dominoes on Wednesdays, and “42” on Fridays. Peggs & Jokers begins at noon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while Mexican Train takes over the noon table Tuesdays and Thursdays.
October also brings several reasons to change up the routine. The month begins with Friday Night Bingo from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 2, featuring Charmaine Sherriffe of Brookdale Tanglewood Oaks and dinner provided by Christa Kolts of Winscott Funeral Home.
Birthday Bingo follows at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 7 with Maleah Ensey, Senior Healthcare Advisor. On Oct. 8, the center closes at 11:30 a.m. before Mexican Train moves to the Benbrook Library from noon to 3 p.m.
The Halloween spirit arrives Oct. 14 with Halloween Rock Painting at 11:30 a.m., followed by Friday Night Mahjong from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 16. Seniors can also head out for Dine & Unwind at Rio Mambo at 3 p.m. Oct. 21, a 10:30 a.m. field trip to Cheddar’s in Lake Worth on Oct. 28, and Bingo at the Waterford at Fort Worth from 1 to 2 p.m. Oct. 30.
The center will be closed Monday, Oct. 12.
The Benbrook Senior Activity Center is located at 911 Winscott Road. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. For information, call 817-249-6093.
