Benbrook cross country turned in a strong day at Prowl in the Park, with one Bobcat setting the pace from the opening mile.
Owen Atkins (#466) won the boys 5K in 17:31, taking first place individually while helping Benbrook secure the team win. Atkins came out fast, clocking a 4:57 first mile, then held on to finish at the front of the field.
The performance was part of a strong showing across Benbrook’s high school teams Thursday.
There is not much downtime before the next starting gun. The Bobcats travel to Stephenville on Wednesday for Thrill on the Hill.
Benbrook’s middle school runners had the week off from competition and will return Saturday at their next meet at the Resource Connection.
