The Benbrook Lady Bobcats walked into a packed Western Hills gym Friday night looking for their third straight win. They left with exactly that.
Western Hills came into the crosstown matchup hungry for a breakthrough, still searching for its first district win while trying to snap a 17-game losing streak.
The Lady Cougars played with energy and poise in front of a lively mix of Cougar and Bobcat fans, but Benbrook eventually found another gear in each set.
The Lady Bobcats started slowly at times before taking control midway through, pulling away for a 25-11, 25-12, 25-16 sweep on the Lady Cougars’ home court.
It was another encouraging step for a Benbrook team that has worked through injuries and communication struggles during the season and now appears to be finding a steadier rhythm when it matters.
The win improves the Lady Bobcats to 17-13 overall and 3-1 in district play.
Benbrook returns home Tuesday, Sept. 22, to face the Eastern Hills Lady Highlanders at 7 p.m.
