The Lady Bobcats volleyball team ran into their toughest test of the young season Thursday, but they didn’t let one loss turn into two.
After opening the season Tuesday with wins over Castleberry and North Side, Benbrook faced a talented Pantego Christian squad that finished 32-8 last season and second in TAPPS 4A District 2.
The Lady Panthers took control early, winning the opening set 25-16. Benbrook battled closer in the next two, but couldn’t put together the late runs needed to turn either set, falling 25-20 and 25-17 to complete the Pantego sweep.
The response came quickly.
Benbrook returned to the court against Keene and flipped the script, sweeping the Lady Chargers in convincing fashion, 25-13, 25-12 and 25-9.
Now 3-1 on the season, the Lady Bobcats move into the Gold Bracket of The Brook Tournament, where Texas Christian awaits.
It’s another tough matchup, but after Thursday’s bounce-back performance, Benbrook has already shown it can take a hit, reset and get right back to work.
