If you have books to pick up, materials to return, or summer programs on your calendar, be sure to plan ahead.
The Benbrook Public Library will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
Library services will resume following the holiday according to the library’s regular schedule.
Juneteenth, which originated in Texas, marks June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation reached enslaved people in Galveston, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.
Residents can learn more about upcoming programs and events by visiting Benbrook Public Library.
Whether you’re stocking up on summer reading or planning your next library visit, make sure to take note of the holiday closure before heading over.
