Cupcake should not be here.
At 8 years old, the Chihuahua mix had already been abandoned, found as a stray, and placed on a euthanasia list before being rescued by Fort Worth Abandoned Animal Alliance Rescue.
Her condition told a difficult story. Rescuers believe Cupcake spent years being used for breeding before being discarded. When she arrived in rescue care, she was suffering from severe neglect, including mange, mammary tumors, luxating patellas, an upper respiratory infection, and painfully overgrown nails.
What has surprised many, however, is not what Cupcake endured. It’s how she has responded.
Despite everything, the small dog is known for her gentle nature, love of cuddles, and resilient spirit.
Now, local residents have an opportunity to help write the next chapter of her story.
Fort Worth Abandoned Animal Alliance Rescue will host a fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Raising Cane’s in Benbrook. Proceeds and donations will help fund Cupcake’s medical care and support other abandoned and neglected dogs throughout Fort Worth and the DFW area.
The event will be held at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.
Organizers say every meal purchased, donation made, and share on social media helps provide care for dogs who have nowhere else to turn.
Cupcake’s story began with abandonment, but thanks to a community willing to step in, it may have a much happier ending.
