As temperatures climb into the 90s, many Benbrook families have been looking for ways to cool off, only to discover an unexpected problem at one of the city’s popular warm-weather attractions.
Over the weekend, multiple residents reported that the splash pad located in front of Benbrook City Hall was not operating. Visitors said they pressed the activation button, only to see it turn red without any water starting.
The splash pad, which resembles a smaller version of Fort Worth’s Sundance Square water feature rather than a traditional spray-ground design, has become a favorite stop for families seeking relief from the summer heat.
Several residents shared similar experiences after making the trip, expecting a fun afternoon for their children but finding the attraction unavailable.
One resident asked, “Splash pad broken? It says it’s open until dark daily, but we tried it out, and the button to turn it on just turns red and nothing happens.”
Benbrook City Councilman Sean Moore reportedly reached out to City Manager Jim Hinderaker about the issue after hearing residents’ concerns.
As of early Monday morning, the splash pad remained out of service, and the cause of the malfunction had not been publicly announced.
Residents seeking an update on repairs or a timeline for reopening can contact City Manager Jim Hinderaker at 817-249-6005 or visit City Manager’s Office.
For now, families planning a visit may want to check on the splash pad’s status before heading out.
