Smoke, Brisket, and Backyard Competition Return to Benbrook VFW.

The smell of slow-smoked brisket and backyard competition is about to take over Benbrook as VFW Post 10429 hosts its IBCA BBQ Cook-Off on May 15 and 16.

The two-day event will bring pitmasters, local families, and barbecue fans together at the VFW Post located at 1000 Stevens Drive for an IBCA-sanctioned competition featuring $1,000 in added prize money.

Friday night kicks off with Burger Night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a cook’s choice jackpot competition later that evening.

Saturday’s competition schedule includes chicken judging at noon, ribs at 1:30 p.m., and brisket at 3 p.m., with awards beginning at 4 p.m. Guests can also stop by for a community BBQ dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. while the event’s silent auction wraps up later that night.

Entry fees are listed at $125 for all meats.

Organizers say events like this are about more than trophies and turn-in times. It is another chance for neighbors, veterans, cooks, and families to gather around good food and community connection.
