Cougars Baseball Finding Their Stride at the Right Time.

BENBROOK, TX — After a stretch of injuries slowed their season, the Western Hills Cougars are starting to look like themselves again.

Now healthy, the team has put together back-to-back district wins, showing balance on the mound and at the plate when it matters most.

On Tuesday, Dante Mendoza and Tyler Johnston combined for 10 strikeouts in a 15–5 win. A day earlier, Axel Sanchez set the tone with 12 strikeouts, leading the Cougars to a 7–5 victory.

Offensively, the production has followed. Sanchez went 3-for-7 with four runs scored. Johnston added three hits, five runs, and five RBIs. Mendoza reached base consistently, finishing 3-for-4 with six runs scored, while Joseph Salais contributed three runs and four RBIs.

The timing matters. Sitting at 4–5 in district play, the Cougars head into their final three games with playoff positioning still within reach.

Next up is a home matchup Friday night against Diamond Hill-Jarvis, a game that carries weight for what comes next.

For a team that has worked to get healthy and stay together through a tough stretch, this is the part of the season where it starts to show.
