Cougar Track Delivers Strong Showing at District Meet.

Over two days of competition, Western Hills track athletes put together a solid performance at the 8-4A District Meet on March 31 and April 1, with multiple top finishes and six new personal records.

D’Shawn Elder led the way, placing third in shot put with a personal best throw of 42-10, earning a spot at the Area Meet on April 16. Mauricio Martinez followed with a fifth-place finish in the same event.

The boys’ 4×200 relay team, made up of Justin Hurst, Darius Roberson, Mohammed Soumahoro, and Gabriel Christion, also finished fifth.

Several athletes hit new marks during the meet, including Shamiya James in the long jump, Sadie Robinson in the 100-meter dash, Darius Roberson in the triple jump, Grayson Ehirim in the long jump, and Gabriel Christion in the 200-meter dash.

It was a good couple of days for the Cougars, with one athlete moving on and plenty of others showing real progress.
