The Benbrook Bobcats baseball team closed out the Drew Medford Tournament with a hard-fought win, finishing the event with a strong 3-1-1 record.
Benbrook entered its final tournament game looking to finish on top against Fort Worth Country Day. Stormy weather threatened to cut the day short, but the Bobcats made the most of the time they had on the field.
Tanner Madara set the tone from the mound, holding the Falcons scoreless during his outing. Madara allowed just one hit over three innings while striking out one and walking one, earning the win.
The Bobcats grabbed an early lead and protected it the rest of the way. Hudson Stockton delivered at the plate, going two for two and driving in the game’s only run.
Defense also played a key role in the win. Benbrook turned a double play and played error-free baseball throughout the shortened game. Brennan Barton led the team in fielding opportunities with six.
Weather forced the contest to end after four innings, but the Bobcats walked away with a 1-0 victory and positive momentum heading into district play.
Benbrook now stands at 8-7-1 on the season and will open district competition Tuesday on the road against Eastern Hills.
