Lady Cougars Open District Play with Statement Win.

The Western Hills High School Lady Cougars softball team wasted little time making their presence known in district play.

Tuesday night’s opener at Eastern Hills turned into a quick and decisive victory as Western Hills powered its way to a 21-1 win in just three innings.

Pitcher Addison Dudley controlled the game from the circle, striking out eight batters while allowing only one hit across 11 batters faced. At the plate, Isabela Gonzales delivered one of the night’s biggest moments with a three-run home run, her second of the season.

The offense stayed busy all night. Every one of the nine starters crossed home plate at least twice, and the team combined for an eye-catching 32 stolen bases.

The strong start sets the tone as the Lady Cougars begin their push through district competition.

Next up is a Friday night matchup against Benbrook Lady Bobcats at 6 p.m. Weather may play a factor, but if the game goes ahead, both teams will be looking for a strong crowd as district play continues to heat up.
