Tuesday night brought a tough test for the Western Hills Cougars as they hosted a red-hot Southwest Raiders team with history on the line. A win would secure back-to-back district titles for Southwest for the first time since 1972.
The Raiders showed why they sit at the top of the standings. After defeating the Cougars 79-28 in January, Southwest repeated the outcome with an 86-39 win this week.
The loss moves Western Hills to 8-20 on the season and 4-7 in district play, placing them fifth in the district standings. It has been a challenging year, but the Cougars will have one more opportunity to finish strong.
They return to their home court Tuesday to face Eastern Hills in the final game of the 2025-2026 season. For a team that has battled through adversity, it is one last chance to compete in front of their home crowd and close the year on a positive note.
