The Benbrook Bobcats carried a two-game district win streak into Friday night’s road matchup with Carter-Riverside, hoping to make it three in a row.
What followed was the kind of match you expect when two evenly matched teams square off. Both sides defended well. Space was limited. Chances were hard-earned. It came down to which defense would blink first.
Late in the contest, a brief breakdown in communication opened the door for the Eagles to find the net. That lone goal proved to be the difference, handing the Bobcats a tough 1-0 loss and snapping their district momentum.
Benbrook is now 8-9 overall and 3-3 in district play, currently fourth in the standings. The team will regroup over the weekend before returning home on Tuesday to host Dunbar in another key district matchup.
