Parents and Staff Raise Concerns After FWISD Return to Campus.

As Fort Worth ISD students and staff returned to school following the winter weather, experiences varied widely across campuses.

According to a social media post from FWISD Watchdog, hundreds of parents, teachers, and bus drivers shared feedback, photos, and videos detailing their experiences on the first day back.

Some campuses transitioned smoothly, but others struggled to prepare buildings for students and staff.

Reports indicated that several classrooms lacked heat, forcing students to sit in auditoriums for extended periods. Weather-related issues also affected cafeterias, leaving some students without access to a hot breakfast or lunch.

Transportation was another area of concern.

While no accidents were reported, many bus drivers expressed frustration with the Transportation Department and district leadership. Drivers reported that the bus parking lot was unsafe and not properly prepared upon arrival. Some were told they would be shuttled from their vehicles to their buses, but that plan never materialized.

FWISD Watchdog also raised concerns about campus safety readiness, noting that the Safety and Security team’s efforts were inconsistent across schools.

For families with students in Fort Worth ISD, the reports provide a clearer picture of the challenges some campuses faced and the ongoing conversations about safety, preparedness, and communication following severe weather.
