A late-night package theft in the Westpark Estates neighborhood has residents paying closer attention to porch activity and neighborhood safety.
Around 2 AM, a man was caught on a Ring camera walking up to a brightly lit porch and taking a package the homeowner did not even realize had been delivered. The contents were modest but personal, a Barbie and a devotional. Video footage also showed the individual slowly driving through the neighborhood beforehand, appearing to scan homes while traveling in what looked like a late 1990s Buick LeSabre.
The homeowner planned to turn the footage over to the Benbrook Police Department, and neighbors quickly shared the information, keeping an eye out for both the suspect and the vehicle. Several residents expressed concern about how comfortable the individual appeared as they approached a home in the middle of the night.
At the time of publication, the homeowner provided updates stating that the suspect had been identified and that the Benbrook Police Department had been notified and was taking action.
The incident serves as a reminder for residents to secure deliveries, use available camera systems, and report suspicious behavior promptly. In this case, quick sharing and awareness helped move things toward resolution.
