Just north of Benbrook, a single-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon led to traffic delays but thankfully no serious injuries.
Around 2:20 pm, a truck lost control on Interstate 820 near White Settlement Road in White Settlement and struck a guardrail. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire, which then spread to nearby grass along the roadway. Emergency crews responded quickly as smoke and flames drew the attention of passing drivers, slowing traffic in the area.
The driver was able to get out of the truck and was treated for minor injuries. While the scene caused significant onlooker delays, officials were able to contain the fire and clear the area.
Residents are reminded to use caution when driving, especially during dry, windy conditions, which can worsen roadside incidents.
