A familiar Texas reminder just got a modern refresh.
The iconic “Don’t Mess With Texas” anti-litter campaign is celebrating 40 years, and its latest video features Post Malone bringing new attention to a message that has shaped generations of Texans. The campaign first launched in 1986 with the help of Stevie Ray Vaughan and quickly became one of the most recognizable public service efforts in the state.
Four decades later, the message remains the same. Keeping Texas clean is everyone’s responsibility. By tapping a globally known artist with Texas roots, the campaign is once again meeting people where they are and reminding them that littering is not just careless, it is un-Texan.
The campaign is led by the Texas Department of Transportation and continues to focus on protecting roadways, landscapes, and communities across the state, including right here in Benbrook.
The new video is part of the 40th anniversary celebration and reinforces that some messages never go out of style.
