The Benbrook Bobcats shook off the holiday rust and started tournament play on a high note Tuesday afternoon in College Station.
After the long Christmas break, the Bobcats looked understandably slow out of the gate in their opening game of the Aggieland Invitational. That changed quickly.
Benbrook settled in, found its rhythm offensively and then defensively, and battled through in a tight finish to fend and knock off Hargrove 57–53. The win moves the Benbrook Bobcats to 11–6 on the season and gives them a confident 1–0 start in tournament play.
Benbrook is back on the floor tonight at 7:30 pm, taking on Vanguard Academy Beethoven out of Edinburg. Vanguard enters the matchup with the same 11–6 record, setting up another evenly matched test for the Bobcats.
Tournament play wraps up this week before Benbrook turns its focus back home. The Bobcats will close out the week Friday, January 2, opening the new year with a matchup against the Mineral Wells Rams.
In the meantime, the Lady Bobcat hoops tipped off at 1:30 pm at the Aggieland Invitational, facing off against St. Pius X Lady Panthers. We’ll report back scores once the score is made available.
